Sandymount Hotel are Proud to Support Make-A-Wish Ireland
Make-A-Wish Ireland have one aim – they grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Since 1992, Make-A-Wish Ireland has granted wishes for more than 2,000 brave children across the country.
'Make-A-Wish places family at the centre of its work in meeting the wishes of sick children. Sandymount Hotel is family run and we feel that “Make-A-Wish” is a perfect Charity partner for us.' John Loughran, Owner of Sandymount Hotel
In 2022, Sandymount Hotel were honoured to welcome the Dublin2Donegal team; Dave, Eoin, Éamonn & Barry as they met with the CEO of Make A Wish Ireland Susan O'Dwyer. They raised over €40,000 for Make A Wish in the name of 3 year old Séimí Brennan who passed away in 2017. They were presented with a beautiful plaque in memory of Séimí by Susan.
We were delighted to be their start off point for the run, support the team with anything they needed and follow their journey throughout. Having been delayed by Covid, to be able to complete the run and smash their goal goes to show what can be possible with some perservence, determination and support.
Make-A-Wish Ireland recently granted 9-year-old Daniel his wish. Here is Daniel's story:
I wish . . . to visit NASA!
This wish was out of this world!
Daniel (aged nine) from Dublin is living with a brain tumor and his wish was to visit NASA!
We sent Daniel and his family to the Johnson Space Center in Texas. Daniel met real-life astronauts and relished the opportunity to walk on NASA’s replica of the International Space Station. The family had special access to the old mission control room and witnessed the astronauts training underwater.
Daniel’s mother, Orlagh said that the family will never forget the trip and that, ‘it was a real, once-in-a-lifetime experience!’
